From northwest Ecuador comes this unique necklace, carved of tagua nuts. Conservation International created a program encouraging indigenous tribes to preserve valuable rainforest, which has resulted in 1,800 jobs and the cultivation of the tagua palm, the nuts of which – called vegetal ivory - are rare and desirable because of their hardness and color. This beautiful necklace contributes to the cessation of slash-and-burn agriculture in the endangered forests and is an artistic statement you will wear with pride.
The little mice are a Japanese netsuke, CITES-certified fossilized mammoth ivory, signed by the carver. Silvered ceramic from Mykonos and sterling silver findings complete the piece.
